The Farintosh/Robertson Quintet presents: “Moon Shaped Pools: Reflections of Radiohead.” A project years in the making, Moon Shaped Pools celebrates the profound influence of Radiohead’s music with two sets of brand-new arrangements that blend the songs we love with the interplay and excitement of jazz. With selections chosen from every corner of their vast discography, the performance is sure to enchant Radiohead fans and jazz enthusiasts alike. Born and raised in Powell River, BC, Adam Robertson is a versatile drummer, percussionist and composer with strong West Coast roots. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Vancouver Island University and regularly performs with artists and ensembles spanning the worlds of both popular and art music. Since moving to Vancouver Island in 2016, Adam has gained notoriety for his interactive approach to the drum set, combining elements from a variety of contemporary and world music genres into the jazz drum set tradition established by the masters. Rowan Farintosh is an award-winning saxophonist and composer based in Victoria BC. With a diverse set of musical influences (Roy Hargrove, Stevie Wonder, Radiohead, Bon Iver etc.), he composes music containing a wide variety of sonic tapestries that can connect with fans of jazz, R&B, ambient, and progressive genres. In addition to leading projects in various configurations, Rowan takes pride in being a top call studio saxophonist for numerous projects in the Victoria area, as well as performing for corporate events and wedding ceremonies. After winning the Lou Williamson scholarship, Rowan moved to Toronto to attend the prestigious Humber College, where he studied with many of Canada's top jazz musicians, including Alex Dean and Kirk MacDonald. Rowan currently resides in Victoria, BC and is working towards recording his original music and showcasing his talents across the world. Filling out the quintet is a collection of the central island’s most in-demand musicians: Aedan Geiger, trumpet, Kenton Willem, keys, and Drake Shoemaker, bass.
